We observed part of a music session during the inspection. Each resident had an instrument to move along with the music. The music played was familiar to the people. There were some quiz questions about the music. It was an interactive session, and the facilitator knew and used every person’s name. Most people were engaged and appeared to be enjoying the session.” From the latest CQC Report for Allenbrook Nursing Home, Fordingbridge

“At Fairfax House we have had Malcolm come to us for many years.

His sessions are excellent and when he arrives, he always speaks to each resident individually which I feel is important and very good. He will explain why he is here and what he is doing and it doesn’t matter to Malcolm if he has to repeat this several times.

He has so much empathy for the elderly and I can really see he is passionate and enjoys what he does.

My residents love his sessions because they are always fun and he involves everybody and it’s not just about the music and what he does, it’s the involvement and enjoyment of everybody.

I can’t express how much my residents love Malcolm coming to the home. He brightens their day when they know he is coming and no one likes to miss out.

From a manager’s point of view I would continue to have Malcolm visit for as long as he is working and doing the sessions. Nothing is ever too much trouble for him.”

“As the team leader of companionship at a dedicated dementia care home, I am always seeking activities that engage our residents, encourage movement and inspire participation. Biodanza with Malcolm achieves all of this and more. Malcolm brings incredible energy, a positive attitude and the ability to connect with our residents on a meaningful level through music, movement and the use of percussion. It’s always a joyful experience and I regularly schedule sessions with Malcolm because of the wonderful benefits it brings to our residents”.

Natasha – Companionship Team Leader, Linden House, Hampshire

“I really enjoyed this afternoon’s session. I struggled with my wrist earlier this morning and now it feels so much better. I cannot wait for the next session”.
